MHIA Hosts Largest ProMat In Event History
Friday, January 30, 2009
ProMat 2009 featured 729 exhibits covering 305,000 net square feet, representing the largest ProMat in the event’s history. The event is the material handling and logistics industry's premier North American trade event and was held January 12-15, 2009 in Chicago’s McCormick Place South. ProMat is sponsored by Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA).
Registration for ProMat 2009 totaled 31,800. Attendance represented key decision makers in virtually all manufacturing, logistics, distribution and the supply chain. Reflecting the growing global nature of the event, attendees from outside the United States at this year's ProMat represented 100 countries and six continents. They were welcomed by ProMat's International Visitors Center.
"The feedback from attendees and exhibitors is that ProMat 2009 was a very successful event for them. Attendees were very serious and ready to make capital purchases now to keep their manufacturing and distribution operations competitive.” said John Nofsinger, CEO of MHIA.
According to Nofsinger, "the exhibitors put on a great show with a highly diverse array of equipment and technology solutions. Overall, the success of this show says a great deal about the overall strength of this industry as material handling and logistics solutions remain key to industrial productivity and profitability."
“Given the economic downturn, one had concerns that perhaps the traffic and quality will be low, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised, noted Paul Laroia, President of Hyster Company. “I think that companies are taking their time during this economic slowdown and doing their due diligence, their analysis, to learn solutions so that when the upturn comes, and there will be an upturn, they’ll be ready for it. So I’m very pleased.”
More than 5,000 attended ProMat’s educational conference, which numbered more than 100 sessions. This conference included show floor seminars, educational workshops and a Keynote on building the workforce of the future.
The next MHIA-sponsored trade event will be in 2010.NA 2010-The 2010 North American Material Handling & Logistics Show, April 26-29, 2010 in Cleveland's I-X Center. For more information on exhibiting at NA 2010, or to register as an attendee, visit www.NAShow.com. ProMat 2011 will be held at McCormick Place South January 24-27, 2011.
