What You Will Learn
Last year more than 2 million used load wheels were sent to landfills across the U.S. In most cases these wheels could have been stripped and remolded with new polyurethane. Remolding is an old idea that's breathing new life into the material handling industry. It is a giant step in the right direction and an important way green conscious companies can work to lower their resource impact and satisfy ISO 14001 requirements. Recyling used wheels diminiishes the burden on landfills and, more significantly, cuts atmospheric pollutants emitted by foundaries while producing the cast iron cores for new wheels. Remolding also reduces water table contamination from bearing grease and can help companies lower their annual maintenance expenses.
Key Takeaways
How to recycle used tires and load wheels and save on disposal costs
